  • Uninspired

The ‘inspiration’ tag on Tumblr is really un-inspirational. I guess that’s a sure sign that I’m scraping the bottom of the barrel looking for something that will flirt with my imagination this evening. Work is becoming tedious, not because there isn’t enough to challenge me creatively, but because I work with people that fail to see potential, and only see solutions being possible from external consultants.

It’s the same old thing about life, isn’t it? We can hear the same advice from a million people, but until we hear it from someone we’re willing to listen to, it will never hit home. That’s the frustration of what I do. The industry insists on following frameworks and methodologies, while I insist on taking a logical approach that allows an organic growth of skill in the organisation. But most fail to see that logic because they lack the real world experience to approach any problem without a text book in their hands.

I hate people who study theory for a hundred years and then pretend to know it all. All they know is what someone force-fed into their empty skulls. The day they can apply a fraction of what they learnt parrot-fashion is the day they stand a chance of making a meaningful contribution to good governance. Until then they’ll just tediously regurgitate buzz words and bullshit until they have a room full of morons nodding their heads in unison with a vacant stare and a pathetic smile that reveals the vacuous nature of the space between their ears.

The worst part of this post is that there’s probably no one on Tumblr that even knows what the hell I’m ranting about. Yet another frustration with choosing a career in an obscure field. 🙁

  • The Great Olympic Pissing Contest

Seems a hiatus is called for again, because the Olympic spam is fast becoming a major annoyance. We assign such significance to these events that we fail to see the simple truth behind it all. Like the FIFA Soccer World Cup, and other similar sporting events hosted on a global stage, it’s nothing but capitalistic ventures cloaked in good old fashioned values of sportsmanship and supposed goodwill.

Look behind the scenes, as with the current Olympics as well, and you’ll see how many ordinary people and businesses are forcefully marginalised and actively excluded simply because they don’t have as much money to pay for the advertising rights of such events. So what started out as a universal celebration of camaraderie and sportsmanship has turned into a pissing contest, and nothing more.

So forgive me if I don’t exactly celebrate the inclusion of marginalised groups and countries in a spectacle that holds no honour or respect any longer. The innocence of the world has been defiled a long time ago.

  • A Run-On Rant

I have this intense urge to want to write something meaningful but I’m completely distracted by the saddening news that the people around me don’t know what I do for a living no matter how many times and how many ways I’ve tried my level best to explain in as simple terms as possible what it is that I do and after being accused yet again of using flowery language at the office by idiots that are supposed to have received a superior education compared to my own I find it impossible to maintain my composure knowing that my efforts to be understood or known have thus far been an utter failure of epic proportions leaving me feeling like a deflated drama king anxiously scanning his surroundings for affirmation that all is not lost, yet.
