The same can be said about Muslims, yet the OP seems to miss this point when posting generalisations about what Muslims stand for and what they’re supposedly collectively accountable for. The sensationalists of any society will attract more attention, since the boring masses are hardly newsworthy. We perpetuate the very same cycles that we bemoan because we (deliberate generalisation) would rarely buy a newspaper or turn on the news on TV to watch a story about a life that is the same as our own.
So, by definition, using mainstream media to educate yourself is no different to smoking dope in your efforts to understand reality.
